My research focuses on reconstructing past climate and monsoon variability to understand the underlying mechanisms driving regional and global climate change. Given the complex and often unexplained variations in the Indian monsoon system over recent decades, it is crucial to explore its relationship with global climate dynamics. However, the brevity of instrumental records poses a significant limitation in deciphering long-term climate patterns. This challenge has motivated my pursuit of paleoclimate reconstruction using natural archives such as marine, coastal, and continental sediments, as well as coral skeletons.

Through geochemical and isotopic investigations of these archives, I aim to unravel the evolution of ocean-atmosphere interactions and their role in modulating monsoon behavior and oceanic circulation during the late Quaternary. My broader research interest lies in understanding the coupling among large-scale climate systems—particularly the Indian monsoon, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and global forcings such as orbital variations, solar activity, and volcanism—to provide insights into the mechanisms governing past and present climate variability.
